Patricia “Pat” Teague Modine

Patricia “Pat” Teague Modine, 83, passed away on June 9, 2024 at the Fort Pierce Treasure Coast Hospice, surrounded by family and friends.

Born on October 22, 1940, Pat was a lifelong resident of Fort Pierce, a pioneer 4th generation St. Lucie County “Cracker” stock from the Carlton Family.  She held deep roots in her community, evident through her involvement in various organizations.  Pat was a devout member of the 1st Baptist Church, a legacy carried on from her grandmother, great grandmother, and aunts who were among its founders.   She was also a founding Leader of the 4-H Rocking Horse Club, a dedicated member of the “Cow Belles” and St. Lucie County Cowboy Club, and an early contributor to the SLC Fair Association, where her efforts helped shape the community’s infrastructure.

Transitioning from her role as a homemaker, Pat found fulfillment as a teacher’s aide once her son embarked on his college journey.   Her impact extended beyond the classroom, as she formed lasting friendships with colleagues and students alike.   A member of the Kappa Kappa Iota sorority, Pat dedicated years to the school system before retiring. Her passion for preserving history led her to become an active member of the SLC Historical Society, where she contributed significantly to the community’s heritage.

Outside her professional endeavors, Pat found solace and joy in her hobbies, particularly in crafting jewelry.  Yet, her greatest source of happiness stemmed from her family.   From Easter egg hunts on the ranch to festive holiday dinners, Pat cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.   Her heart overflowed with love whenever children were around, embodying the essence of familial bonds.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Carlton Teague and Robert E. Teague, Sr. and siblings Lynnl Teague Guettler, Joseph W. Teague, and Robert E. Teague, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Richard “Rick” Modine, Jr. (Lisa), grandchildren, Lindsey (Scott) Crippen, Tyler (Kristi) Modine, and Cameron (Natalie) Modine, along with four great-grandchildren, Logan, Alex, Nadia, and Aiden.  Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Becky Teague (Buzz) Eaves, nieces, Rose Guettler Pazos and Cindy Zacharakis, and nephews, Matthew Guettler and Joshua Blue Eaves.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice or the St. Lucie Historical Society.
