Paul Edward Goodner, 84, died December 24, 2019 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Goodner was born in Guntersville, Alabama on June 17, 1935 and moved to Florida as a child.
Paul was an owner/operator of East Coast Plastering for 45 years. In addition to construction, he was a reserve deputy with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. After closing his business, he went full time with the Sheriff’s Office, directing traffic in front of Ft. Pierce Central. He also spent several years serving civil papers for the Sheriff’s Office. He spent a total of 38 years with the Sheriff’s Office, serving under four Sheriff’s.
Paul thoroughly enjoyed riding motorcycles his entire life. He attended Bike Week in Daytona, FL 59 years in a row. In his younger years, he raced enduro motorcycles, where he achieved 2nd place in the State of Florida for four years in a row.
He was a member of the Jaycees, Civitans, American Motorcyclist Association and the Florida Trail Riders. Paul also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing.
He was pre-deceased by his wife of 36 years, Veronica “Ronni” Goodner and granddaughter Rebecca Goodner. Survivors include his girlfriend of 15 years Sandy Jansen, his sons, Anthony Goodner (Roxzan) Hartselle, AL, David Goodner (Karen) Port St. Lucie, FL, Adam Goodner (Lisa) Port St. Lucie, FL; daughter Laura Bowman (Lee), Ft. Pierce, FL; brothers, Dwight Goodner, of Ft. Pierce and Charles Goodner, of Tennessee; grandsons, Anthony Goodner, Andrew Goodner, Christopher Shamburger, granddaughters, Angela Patterson, Sabrina Mims, Pamela Thomas, Samantha Goodner, Morgan Goodner, Shiloh Bowman, Eden Bowman, Kaitlyn Bibeau, Krista Swen. He also had thirteen great grandchildren.
A gathering will be held on Monday, December 30 from 10-11 AM with a memorial service at 11 AM at Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service Fort Pierce Chapel. A reception will follow at the Haisley Reception Center.
