Paula Anne Schulte, 65, of Fort Pierce, Fla., passed away at Shands Hospital in Gainesville on Oct. 25 with her husband and daughter by her side.
Paula was born and raised in Miami. In 1997, she and her husband, Joe, bought a home on South Hutchinson Island, where they spent the weekends enjoying friends and the beautiful oceanfront until the couple moved there permanently in 2001.
Paula was a graphic artist and gifted painter, who studied fine art at the University of Miami and was set to graduate summa cum laude before enduring the first of many health issues. Her vivid works were matched by an equally colorful—and feisty—personality. She was an avid gardener and incredible cook, bringing passion and creativity to everything she did.
Her fierce independence and intelligence equaled her beauty, both inside and out. An intensely loving wife, mother and grandmother, she braved years of discomfort in an effort to appreciate every last minute with her family.
Paula is survived by her husband of 32 years, Joseph Guy Schulte; her daughter, Stephanie Sinclair and her son-in-law, Bryan Hoben, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; stepson, Erik Schulte of Miami; grandson, Austin Schulte of Miami; and brother, Anthony Kubilskis of Heflin, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Kent and Paul Kubilskis, and sister Sandy Shears.
The graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 3 p.m. with Paul Copeland officiating at All Saints Cemetery, 2303 N.E. Seaview Drive in Jensen Beach.
