Pedro Colon Melendez, 77, died May 9, 2018 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Mr. Melendez was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Port St. Lucie in 1989 coming from Waukegan, Illinois.
Pedro was a chemist with Dexter Midland and created paint colors. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, his man cave, and loved to piddle with small engines. He dedicated his life to serving the church; he was a leader within the community. He was also involved in politics back in Waukegan.
Survivors include his wife, Sonia of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughters, Aixa Colon of Port St. Lucie, FL, Juddy Tucci of Lindenhurst, IL and Vanessa Melendez of Clarksburg, MD; son, Pedro Colon of Port St. Lucie, FL; grandchildren, Janessa, AJ, Darion, Bryanna, Marquez, Ryan, Anthony, Alex, Mia, Sasha, Alberto, Megan, Jessie, and Jason and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services: Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 5-8 PM with a Wake Service at 7:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, Fort Pierce. Burial will follow at Rolling Oaks Cemetery, Port St. Lucie.
