Perry Steve Sessoms, Sr.
Perry Steve Sessoms, Sr., 79, died February 15, 2022 in Okeechobee, Florida.
Mr. Sessoms was born in Hoke County, North Carolina and moved to Fort Pierce in the early 60’s then relocated to Okeechobee, Florida in 1994 until his passing.
Perry retired as Deputy Chief Fire Marshall after 25 ½ years of service with the St. Lucie County Fire Department. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines Corps and also played football for the Marines. He loved sports and was good at every sport he tried. He especially enjoyed Bass fishing, NASCAR, Gator football, and frequenting the Brighton Casino. Back in the day, he was a member of the First Responders Bass Fishing Club and won the tournament every year. The thing he cherished the most, was having his family over & fishing off the dock. His family and the Fire Department meant the most to him.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Diane Sessoms of Okeechobee, FL; daughter, Melissa (Dan Pollack) Mathews of Port St. Lucie, FL; sons, Steve (Trina) Sessoms of Port St. Lucie, FL and Tim (Sue) Sessoms of Fort Pierce, FL; brother, Willard (Virginia) Sessoms of Dade City, FL; sister, Brenda Sessoms of Zephyrhills, FL; grandchildren, James (Jessica) Renie, David Collison, Emily (Sam) Serkin, Erica Sessoms, and Steven Sessoms; great-grandchildren, Dylan Renie and Alyssa Franklin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Lula Sessoms, brother, Larry Sessoms, grandson, Jacob Sessoms, and grand dog, Max.
Services: Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 2-3 PM with a service to follow at 3:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.
