Peter Camacho

Peter Camacho, 88, died March 8, 2011. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and served in the United States Army during World War II being highly decorated with the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He and his wife, Eris moved to Fort Pierce, Florida in 1951 to become citrus grove owners. He was an active member and past president of the VFW Post #8058, and a sixty year member of the Free and Accepted Masons #87 F&AM and a charter member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

Survivors include his son, Charles Camacho and wife, Diana Camacho, daughter, Elaine Camacho and her fiancé, Charles Hamner all of Ft. Pierce and daughter, Debra Pappas and husband, Nicholas Pappas of Stuart, Florida. Three grandchildren, Robert Camacho and his companion Cynthia Marsh, Brittany Posten and husband Walter Posten, Christopher Pappas and great-grandchild Garrett James Posten. His niece Penelope Burdell of Las Vegas, Nevada and his nephew, Theodore Atos of Lakeland, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eris.

Services: Visitation will be held from 12-2 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Haisley Funeral Home. A Trisagion service will start at 1:00 PM followed by Masonic Rites. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2525 S 25th Street, Ft. Pierce, followed by a burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, where the VFW will give a brief Veterans service
