Peter A. Freudenberg

PETER A. FREUDENBERG died after a courageous fight with a long illness on April 18, 2023.

He attended Clemson University and the College of the Arts in Philadelphia (now known as the University of the Arts.) He was awarded the Silver Star Award for Outstanding Alumni.

He served in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star, one of the nation’s highest awards.

Following his discharge he formed Pine Street Studio with specialties in commercial and decorative art. He achieved particular renown for the “Peachoid” a water tank designed and painted to look like a peach in Gaffney, South Carolina. He also won awards for his design of Sesame Place characters on a water tank at the Sesame Place park outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was commissioned to design the sculpture which sits in the front of the Elliott Museum.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Flicker, a sister, Janet Smith of Chapel Hill and a niece, Casey Schine of La Honda, California.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Elliott Museum and the US Sailing Center of Martin County.
