Ray Dean Shatley, 75, died September 4, 2015 at his home in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Shatley was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on June 17, 1940 to the late Charles Garfield Shatley and Velma Shatley Royal and moved to Fort Pierce in 1967.
Before retirement, Ray was the owner/operator of Sunlight Citrus & Trucking in Fort Pierce and worked in the citrus industry for 47 years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Vietnam as a cryptographer and sharp-shooter and was of the Baptist faith. He loved basketball, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Shatley of Fort Pierce, FL; daughters, Amanda Hazellief of Fort Pierce, FL and Deana Shatley of Vero Beach, FL; son-in-law, Mike Hazellief of Fort Pierce, FL; brothers, Carl Shatley, Larry Shatley, Bob Royal, Gene Royal, Bud Royal and David Royal; sisters, Lib Walton, Bet Dollar, Mary Houck, and Sarah Severt all of North Carolina; grandchildren, Mikey Hazellief and Kimey Hazellief. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Royal.
Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 3-4 PM with a service to follow at 4:00 PM at Orange Avenue Baptist Church, Fort Pierce. Burial will take place at South Florida National Cemetery.
