Raymond Lee Keaton, age 71, passed away December 26th, 2020 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Raymond was born on June 26th 1949 in Charleston, West Virginia to Harold L. Keaton and Mary E. Keaton (McLaughlin).
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Robert Keaton.
He is survived by his sisters, Shirley Batsche and Cynthia Keaton of Fort Pierce; his brother, Michael Keaton (Angela) of Port St. Lucie; his aunt, Brenda Pittman (Larry) of Fort Pierce; three nephews and six nieces.
His military career spanned over 20 years with his final rank as a Master Sergeant. Raymond graduated in 1967 from Dan McCarty High School in Fort Pierce. He worked for Piper Aircraft Corporation before joining the United States Air Force in April of 1969. Ray completed Armed Forces Air Intelligence Training in that year. His first overseas assignment was with the USAF 307th Strategic Wing at Utapao Airfield in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He participated as an Intelligence Operations Technician during Operation Linebacker II which helped to bring an end to the war.
After the war, he was stationed as a technician and later as an Imagery Interpretation Superintendent in several places including Lakenheath Air Base, United Kingdom, Kunsan Air Base, South Korea and Strategic Air Command in Omaha, Nebraska. Raymond held a degree in Military Technologies and Applied Sciences from the Community College of the Air Force. Upon his military retirement he lived in Minot, North Dakota and retired from ING Financial Services in 2010. He moved home to Florida in that year to be with his family.
Raymond loved his family above all else and his final years were spent selflessly helping them. He loved cars, planes, fishing, cooking, history, Native American culture, trading stocks and collecting
coins.
There will be no service at this time. Arrangements are being made by Haisley Funeral Home of Fort Pierce with interment at White City Cemetery in Fort Pierce.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made online to St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana.
