Richard Claassen, 82, died March 18, 2010, in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Richard was born in Allison, Iowa, in Butler County. He was a resident of Fort Pierce, FL since 1982, coming from Etna Green, Indiana.
He was a psychologist/social worker, was a member of Westside Baptist Church, served in the US Army during the Korean Occupation, organized and lead the Parkinson Support Group for the Treasure Coast and was named Volunteer of the Year for St. Lucie and Martin Counties in 1989.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lois Claassen of Fort Pierce, FL; daughter, Dawn Marcine Purcell of Round Rock, TX; sons, Keith Alan Claassen of Etna Green, IN and James Michael Claassen of Fort Pierce, FL; sister, Dorothy Marienau of Muncie, IN; brother, Paul Claassen of Lynnwood, WA and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Joe Richard Claassen.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 27th from 10 to 11:00 A.M. followed by a Service at 11:00 A.M. at the Haisley Funeral Home Chapel.
