Richard (Dick) Kurth Discher, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 4, 2015. "What will it be to dwell above, no heart can think, no tongue can tell, what joy it will be with Christ to dwell."
He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on June 26, 1931. He gave his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized at age 14. Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and also played in the Army Band.
He graduated from the University of Florida in 1959 as a Landscape Architect. His many landscape plans for over 40 years in Palm Beach County and the Bahamas, included various famous clients. He also taught Landscape Design at Jupiter Community Evening School for quite a few years.
During the same period of time, he was Sunday School Superintendent, song leader, teacher, speaker and youth group leader at Grace and Truth Chapel in West Palm Beach for almost 50 years. He brought up his family to love and serve the Lord. He was dedicated to reaching others to hear the Word of God and to put their faith in Jesus.
Dick had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He loved sports, especially with his children and grand children. He was loved by all.
"If you could only see me now, you'd know I've seen His face you'd never want me to ever leave this perfect place, If you could only see me now."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kurth and Viola Discher and his sister, June England.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth Discher; sons, Robert Discher of Orlando, Don (Nancy) Discher of Ohio, Rick Discher of PSL; daughters, Angela Discher Morales of Washington & Kyrgyzstan, Robin Discher of PSL, Deborah (Jeff) Discher Wegner of PSL; sister, Leah (Joe) Deviny Charlotte, NC; grandsons, Bradley (Aisha), Jeremy (Jackie), Randall, Jarett, Jonah, Daniel and David Wegner; granddaughters, Jaycie and Donna Wegner; great granddaughter Emma Wegner and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice 5000 Dunn Road Fort Pierce, FL 34981. Visitation will be held on Monday March 9, 2015 from 10-11 AM at Faith Baptist Church 3607 Oleander Ave Ft. Pierce 34982 with services at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Lake Worth Memory Gardens.
