Richard E. (Rick) Gillis of Fort Pierce passed away July 19, 2005.He was a native of Homestead, Florida where he attended South Dade High School. He came to Fort Pierce in 1962 from Charleston, SC after serving in the U.S. Navy where he attained the rank of Machinist Mate 2nd Class Petty Officer.He was a retired Truck Driver of 40 years. The love of his life was his wife of 43 years, Linda. He also loved fishing and hunting and country music. He was an avid NASCAR fan.He was a member of Westside Baptist Church and American Legion Post 40.He is survived by his wife Linda, son, Shawn Gillis, daughter, Dawn Kephart and granddaughter, Amy Gillis all of Ft. Pierce; brother, David Gillis of Virginia and sister, Annette Allen of Bassinger, as well as many family members and close friends.Richard loved people. He never met a stranger. His laughter was contagious.
