Richard Ellsworth McIlwain, II, 63, died at his home on June 20, 2009, with his family by his side, in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mr. McIlwain was born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1970 coming from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
He received his Bachelors degree from Nova South Eastern University, served in the U.S. Air Force for 6 years during the Vietnam War in Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Elks Lodge #1520, Ft. Pierce, FSU Booster Club, Gator Trace Country Club and loved to play golf. He was a FBI Academy Associate from 1973-1980, detective with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department from 1980-2004, and investigator for the States Attorney Office, 19th Judicial Circuit.
Survivors include his wife, Geri Kari McIlwain of Ft. Pierce, FL; son, Richard E. McIlwain, III of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughter, Lindsey (Chris) McIlwain Clay of Ft. Pierce, FL; stepdaughter, Kari Lynn Reinke of Port St. Lucie, FL; stepsons, Marc Arquit of Houston, TX and Michael Arquit of Jacksonville, FL; brother, John Robert (Jack) Rea of Ft. Pierce, FL; sisters, Linda A. (Lou) Beyer of Milwaukee, WI, Sue Ann VonSchledorn of Milwaukee, WI and Virginia Schuster of Kittanning, PA; grandchildren, Preston and Caleb Clay.

Services: Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from 5-8 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
