Richard Leland Moore, age 71, of Fort Pierce, Florida passed away at his residence in August 2018. He was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on June 9, 1947 to the late Stanley and Dorothy (Reed) Moore.
Richard is survived by three sons: Philip (Alice) Moore of Tampa, Florida, Walter (Crystal) Moore of Monticello, Kentucky, and Mark (Christina) Moore of Carthage, North Carolina; One daughter: April (Jeremy) Greene of Port Charlotte, Florida; two sisters: Ginger (Marc) Klein of Atlantic City, New Jersey and Debbie (Frank) Srogota of Audubon, Pennsylvania; one sister-in-law: Sonia Moore of Fort Pierce, Florida; and 13 grandchildren. Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by an infant son: Richard “Buddy” Moore; an infant granddaughter: Ariona Grace Moore; and his brother: Stanley Albert Moore, JR.
Richard grew up in New Jersey. He graduated from Edgewood Regional High School in Tansboro, New Jersey. He moved to Florida when he was a young adult.
Richard worked as a mechanic most of his life which included a time where he taught at a local technical school passing along his experience to the next generation. This love continued into hobbies which included models, miniature dragster, even racing his Dodge Neon with other car enthusiasts.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 10:00 am, at First Baptist Church of Stuart (201 West Ocean Blvd). Inurnment will take place at Royal Oaks Cemetery, Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
