Richard J. Schichtel, 84, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida passed away on March 18, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Schichtel moved to Port Saint Lucie, Florida in 1980 coming from Buffalo, New York.
Richard was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church; he served the church as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered at the Holy Family Thrift Shoppe. Richard was a Truck Driver Teamster for 13 years. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Army receiving; the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze stars and the United Nations Service Medal with 2 outside Bars. He was a member of the American Legion of Port Saint Lucie Post #318.
Survivors include; sons, Richard A Schichtel of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, Peter J. Schichtel of Clarksville, Tennessee, Roderick Schichtel of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Timothy Schichtel of Palm Coast, Florida; sisters, Coletta Buchheit and Agnes Naughton, both of Buffalo, New York; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Schichtel and son, Scott Schichtel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23rd from 2PM – 4PM and from 6PM to 8PM with a Prayer service starting at 6:30pm at Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port Saint Lucie, Florida 34984.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 24th at 12:30PM at Holy Family Catholic Church 2330 SE Mariposa Avenue Port Saint Lucie, Florida 34952.
