Richard “Dick” Stebbins, 80, died June 21, 2012 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Stebbins was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1955 coming from Ft. Benning, Georgia after being discharged from the U.S. Army.
He was a graduate of the University of Florida College of Architecture and was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He was a practicing architect in Fort Pierce for over 50 years and a partner for many years with the firm of Stebbins & Scott. Some of his notable works included numerous condominiums, schools, churches and many public buildings. After his retirement, he became a consultant for Powell Design Group. He was a Past President of the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce and a respected member of the Ft. Pierce Rotary Club where his quick wit and great sense of humor earned him an almost permanent role as Sergeant at Arms. He was an avid Gator Fan and was co-founder of the local Gator Booster Club. He enjoyed sports of all kinds but golf was his passion.
He was a loving father and well respected in the community.
Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Susan (Barry) Luther of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Diane Cooper of Ft. Pierce, FL; son, Greg Stebbins of Ft. Pierce, FL; grandchildren, Mikal Cooper, Kassi Stebbins, and Kaylee Stebbins; and great-grandson, Christopher Peters. He cherished his dogs, Ali, Rosie and Ivar; who brought him comfort and joy.

Services: Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 4-6 PM with a service to follow at 6:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home.
