Robert A. “Big Bob” Hickey, 76, died September 16, 2006, in Stuart, Florida.Bob was born in Lynn, Massachusetts and was a resident of Fort Pierce, FL for 11 years, coming from Lynn, MA.He was a detective for the City of Lynn, MA and was a volunteer with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office for 11 years. He worked in law enforcement from 1959 to 1973 with the Nahant Police Department and the Lynn Police Department from 1973 to 1995 where he retired. Bob was a member of F.O.P. Lodge #41 and a member of the American Legion. He was a US Army disabled veteran who served as a military policeman in the Korean War.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Treasure Coast, 1201 S. E. Box 2225, Fort Pierce, Florida 34954.Bob is survived by his daughters, Sandra Perry of Nahant, MA, Linda Poaletta of Salisbury, MA, Donna Messina of Lynn, MA and Susan Hickey of Middleton, MA; sons, Robert A. Hickey, Jr. of Port St. Lucie, FL, Daniel Hickey of Wakefield, MA and stepson, Sean O’Toole of Miami, FL; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Hickey.
