Robert "Bob" Lewis Bohanan

Robert Lewis Bohanan, 85, of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away peacefully on June 24, 2023. “Bob” was born on September 8, 1937 in Louisville, KY but was a native of Perryville, KY. He attended Perryville High School and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University where he was a member of the University Rifle team. Bob also proudly served 12 years in the Kentucky National Guard.

As a loan officer, Bob worked at the Central Kentucky Savings Bank in Danville, KY and as a comptroller and treasurer at First Federal Savings & Loan in Lexington, KY.

In Port St. Lucie, FL, Bob and his wife Berit owned a cleaning and a handyman service for senior citizens for several years.

In retirement, Bob won several medals, mostly gold, traveling through the state of Florida in the “Florida Senior Basketball Games” competitions. He was a lifelong avid UK basketball fan and no matter how many years he lived in Florida - his heart never left Kentucky and always bled Blue.

To say that he was a kind, gentle man with the patience of a Saint would be an understatement. Even more true to his character he was adventurous and always ready for fun.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Bohanan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Berit Bohanan; brother, James (Jane) Bohanan of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Lesley Bohanan of Port St. Lucie, FL and Norann (Ross) Chambers of Ft. Pierce, FL; granddaughters, Molly Bohanan of Louisville, KY, Paige Chambers of Port St. Lucie, FL and Caitlin Runte of Port St. Lucie, FL; grandsons, Camden Bohanan of Versailles, KY, Layton (Taylor) Chambers of Ft. Pierce, FL, Gavin Chambers of Ft. Pierce, FL and Alex Velez of Port St. Lucie, FL. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Brailynn Heredia, Rhett Runte, and there is one more on the way.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St Lucie, FL 34984 from 11AM to 2PM with a memorial service starting at 12PM.
