Robert W. Englishman

Robert Wostbrock Englishman, 91, of Fort Pierce, died on November 15, 2020. Robert was born on May 2, 1929 to Hans and Henrietta Englishman in Paterson, New Jersey. He graduated from Ramsey High School in 1947 and went on to complete two years of college before being called up to serve in the Korean War. Robert served in the United States Army in a medical detachment.

After his honorable discharge from the military, Robert moved to Florida and settled in Fort Pierce. He met and married Joan Hughes, his wife of 46 years. They went on and had two children, Robert Douglas and Loretta Ann.

Robert worked for the Florida East Coast Railroad in Miami but then he and Joan moved back to Fort Pierce. He also worked as an Assistant Manager for the Port St. Lucie Country Club. This was before Port St. Lucie was even incorporated. General Development had just begun purchasing property to develop the area, but the Country Club would attract Hollywood actors and singers who came for the beautiful weather and the scenery. Soon after, Robert began working at the first brokerage house in Fort Pierce, Hirsch & Company. This would prove to be his dedicated career path until his retirement from Morgan Stanley.

Robert enjoyed working outside in his free time. His roses were legendary, and he enjoyed sharing them with everyone. He took great pleasure in just surprising his daughter at work with a few of his roses chosen just for her. He also loved singing and would need little encouragement to do so on many occasions!

Robert is survived by his wife, Joan, son Douglas (Xiuli), daughter Loretta, brother John, and grandsons Hunter and Aiden.
