Robert Gordon Parkin, 82, died July 30, 2010 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Parkin was born in Jacksonville, Florida and moved to Ft. Pierce 15 years ago coming from Miami, Florida.
He was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, member of the Ft. Pierce Yacht Club, member of the Ft. Pierce Elks Club Lodge BPOE 1520, and was an Army Ranger during the Korean War. He received his Masters degree from Florida International University, received his Bachelors degree from the University of Miami and taught architectural drafting to high school students.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Dixie Parkin of Ft. Pierce, FL; sons, Robert Gordon Parkin, Jr. and Kenneth James Parkin; daughter, Melissa Beth Norum; sister, Priscilla DeChaine; brother, Elmer Parkin and 3 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tanzanian Cardiac Hospital Foundation, Inc., 3366 SE East Snow Road, Port St. Lucie, FL 34984.
Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, August 6, 2010 from 5:00-7:30 PM with a Wake Service at 6:30 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Anastasia Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
