Robert Dale Hanes, 90, died January 8, 2025 at home in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Mr. Hanes was born on September 28, 1934 to Alva & Mary Hanes in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Bob was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Prior to retirement, he served as superintendent for Willard Ohio Water Treatment for 25 years. He earned the Operator Meritorious Service Award in 1995 from Ohio A.W.W.A. He was a South Webster High School Hall of Famer, a Trustee on the Willard Hospital Board from 1980-1986 and a member of the Community United Methodist Church. Bob enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, traveling, but most of all being with his family. He was a hard worker, great father, compassionate, gentle and loved by many and will be greatly missed. 

Survivors include his wife, Helen Ruth Hanes of Fort Pierce, FL; daughter, Sheila Marie Hanes Miesse of Hamilton, OH; son, Robert D. (Jill) Hanes, Jr. of Willard, OH; grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Bernas of Oswego, IL, Alexander R. (Erin) Hanes of Sandusky, OH, Joshua P. Hanes of Sandusky, OH; great-grandchildren, Lola Bernas and Eva Bernas both of Oswego, IL; sister-in-law, Nancy Lewis of South Webster, OH; brothers-in-law, Edward (Pamela) Mault of Wheelersburg, OH; Dale Bauer of South Webster, OH, sisters-in-law, Patricia (Isaac) Hilterbrand of Fort Pierce, FL; Mamie (Bob) Stambaugh of South Webster, OH; cousin, Donald (Abby) Crabtree of Mt. Orab, OH as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva & Mary Hanes, twin brother, William L. Hanes, sister, Helen Morris, brother, Galen E. Hanes, son-in-law, Wendel Miesse, brothers-in-law, James Morris, Paul Fletcher, Donald Lewis, sisters-in-law, Gloria Hanes, Jean Fletcher, Sharon Bauer and in-laws, Gilbert and Helen Mault.

 Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice 5000 Dunn Rd. Fort Pierce, Florida 34982 and Community United Methodist Church 3114 Okeechobee Rd. Fort Pierce, Florida 34947.
