ROBERT LOWE, Bob Lowe, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on October 4, 2015 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce after a brief illness. He was born July 11, 1924 in Westfield, New Jersey and graduated from Westfield High School where he was the football captain and quarterback winning the NJ state championship. Bob received a scholarship to Brown University where he graduated with a degree in engineering and continued his football career as quarterback and team captain of the Brown Bears, winning the 1944 Brown University Football Trophy for the highest scholastic standings on a varsity team. Bob was eager to enlist in the Navy and was deployed as an officer in the South Pacific from 1944 to 1946 commanding the 33rd Naval Construction Battalion. Following WWII, Bob developed a long career with the Babcock and Wilcox Company and holds patents in steam generation engineering. He first settled in Chicago where he met and married his first wife, Shirley in 1949. After starting their family with their son, Robert Jr., they moved to Westport, Connecticut where his children, Webb and Brenda, were born. They then lived in Bath, Ohio for 22 years where Bob was founding member of the Bath Athletic Club. Bob enjoyed traveling and later in his career he lived in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia for 4 years while building the largest desalinization plant of the time. Since 1984 they made their home near Vero Beach, Florida. Bob enjoyed sailing, served as Commodore of the Fort Pierce Yacht club and was President of the Treasure Cove Dunes Condo Association for many years. Bob loved building and gardening projects for his family and friends. After Shirley passed away in 2011, Bob married Elizabeth Thomas, a close friend and longtime neighbor. Bob’s great demeanor, generosity, humility and his smile will be sorely missed by all the people he touched.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Thomas, brother, William Webb Lowe, son, Webb Sterling Lowe and his wife Luanne White Lowe, daughter, Brenda Lowe and her husband Paul Chomet, stepson Ahmad Atwan, and stepdaughter Nawal Johansen and grandchildren, Allison Lowe Chomet, Ashley Sterling Lowe, Samuel Lowe Chomet, and Christopher Joseph Lowe. His son Robert Lowe Jr. and his first wife Shirley Lowe predeceased him.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 11 at 3 pm at the Fort Pierce Yacht Club, 700 North Indian River Drive Fort Pierce.
