Robert Lawrence Milner

Loving husband and father to three daughters, three sons-in-law, and grandfather to seven grandchildren.

Robert, or “Bobby” to all who knew him, was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on November 5, 1956. He was born for a life of ministry through music. After obtaining a degree in music from Troy State University, where he met and married his wife of 46 years, Kim, Bobby followed in his father’s footsteps and completed a masters in church music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Leading worship was his calling and his joy, taking his family to Morningside Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia, and Westside Church in Fort Pierce, Florida. For over 30 years, Bobby impacted others with his love of Christ and music. The Christmas musicals at Morningside and Westside reached thousands of people every year and were a heartfelt outreach of Christ to the community.

Bobby loved his God, his family, and this life he was given. Growing up with two brothers and a dad who loved golf, he loved the game. In his last years, he loved to watch it – and Alabama football – and keeping up with sports and the players was a way of life. And that life was full with the joys of family. Bobby’s three daughters married three men who became true sons to Bobby, lived close by, and added seven incredible grandchildren to the mix. Family days at the pool with Bobby at the grill were some of the best days, and no one could match his ribs on the Big Green Egg. Pappy, his newest calling, was known as the “baby whisperer” in the family; they would fall asleep in his arms almost instantly. Bobby loved laughing with his brothers, spending time with those he loved, riding his motorcycle by the ocean, and trips to Starbucks with just about anyone. He loved his wife, his girls, his sons(-in-law), and his grandchildren passionately and selflessly, and would easily drop everything for someone in need. By lending a hand, offering prayer, or being there to comfort, Bobby would always make sure that others’ needs were met before his own.

He left behind a true legacy of love, and will be missed by many for a very long time.
