Robert R. (Bob) Shea, 65, died on December 12, 2010 after a brief illness, at his residence, The Lynmoore, in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Bob was born January 22, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Robert and Marie Shea, He grew up in Hartford, graduated from Bulkeley High, attended Morse College and then served in the US Army. In the mid 70's he started his career with ADVO Systems, Inc (now known as Valassis Communications Inc ), moving to East Hartford. He worked in several financial areas including Treasury where he managed the company's billing department. In the late 80's, as the company was growing rapidly on a national level, Bob was one of the key employees who helped create the Internal Audit Group. He ultimately specialized in the Manufacturing area, traveling extensively nationwide for the remainder of his career to all the company's production facilities. He was known for being able to spend only a few short hours at a facility before pinpointing issues and improvement options. In 2000, after 25 years with ADVO, he retired and moved to Vero Beach, Florida to be near his family. Bob was a very unique individual with a great sense of humor who loved sports and games of chance and was very content with the simple things in life
He is survived by aunt and uncle Grace and Edward Vignone of Nashua N.H., aunts Doris Korngiebel of Windsor, CO and Irene Durand of Elmwood, CT. and several cousins.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
His inurnment will take place on Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Florida National Cemetery.
