Robert Tyler Morrison, a seeker, a free thinker, a Humanist, was born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 16, 1909, son of late Robert L. and Gertrude Tyler Morrison.He is survived by his wife of 65 years Ruth V. Morrison, a daughter Barbara Morrison of Stuart, FL and a son Richard T. Morrison, of Gales Ferry, CT.He was a graduate of Hamilton College, Clinton, NY, Class of 1931, and received a Masters degree in social work in 1950 from NY School of Social Work, Columbia University.He enlisted in the Army in 1942 as a Private and served in the US Army Adjutant General, returning to civilian life in 1946 as a captain.At retirement in 1974, be was Director of Social Work at Norwich State Hospital, Norwich, CT. For 2 years after retirement he served on Gov. Ella Grasso’s Blue Ribbon Committee, dealing with proposed state legislation for the rapidly expanding Nursing Home industry.Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Indian River, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
