Roberta (Bobbie) Haywood
Ft. Pierce, Florida
Bobbie was born on October 4, 1938 in Haverhill, New Hampshire, a daughter of the late Robert and Leona White.
Bobbie’s main childhood home was a 200 year old farmhouse on Goshen Road in Bradford, Vermont. Her formal education began in a one-room schoolhouse which she often travelled to on the back of her beloved horse Soapy....her dog Teddy running along behind.
Bobbie graduated from Bradford Academy in June of 1956 with plans for continuing her education at Northampton Commercial College. To assist financially in this goal, she worked at Dartmouth Savings Bank in Hanover, New Hampshire after her senior year. The bank was so impressed with her work that they offered to pay for necessary classes at Dartmouth College...this offer was, of course, accepted and Bobbie was the first woman to ever sit on the Board of Directors at Dartmouth Savings.
In 1979 Bobbie moved to Ft. Pierce, Florida where she continued her career in banking and became a HR manager for 14 branches of SunTrust. In 2001, she retired from the bank and volunteered at the House of Seven Gables. Bobbie also enjoyed working in her yard, antique shopping, and spending time with her friends.
On November 21, 2013 after a long battle with cancer Roberta passed away peacefully with family by her side. She leaves two sons, Bill Hayward of Bradford, Vermont and Michael Hayward of West Palm Beach, Florida; a daughter, Mishelle Catenaci and husband Doug of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Kristopher Hayward of Contoocook, New Hampshire, Todd Hayward of Bradford, Vermont, Michael Hayward, Jr. of West Palm Beach, Florida, Lisa Willis of Fort Pierce, Florida, Melissa Catenaci of Fort Worth, Texas and Douglas Catenaci, Jr. of West Palm Beach, Florida; two sisters, Velda Comstock and husband Carl of San Diego, California and Sandra Galligan of Ligonier, Pennsylvania.
