Ronald Gene Brown, better known as Ron, age 78 of Fort Pierce, Florida passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2015 due to Pulmonary Fibrosis.
His cremation is being handled by Haisley Funeral Home. There will be spread during a small family gathering on Sunday April 23 at 10am at Kimberly Bergalis Park on south beach, Fort Pierce.
Ron was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on October 25th 1938. He was a veteran and was honorably discharged from the US Air Force. He was stationed in Japan and Germany as a member of the air military police.
Ron was married for 18 years to Brigitte E. Brown who he met while stationed in Germany, but divorced.
Ron was a self-made man who made a career as an insurance and financial advisor with Prudential Insurance Co. for 28 years where Ron enjoyed working and interacting with people helping them make decisions & plans about their futures.
Ron was a winner. He applied himself fully to everything he attempted; from being a father, to becoming successful in sales, to acquiring his securities license, investing in real estate, boating and fishing too. He was a very organized, disciplined man, always planning out his next steps. He took pride in being honest and doing the right thing.
Ron had an exploring spirit about him. Upon moving to Florida he visited many places in the state with the family in tow, always curious about what the next location offered. Ron was attracted to the water amenities in Florida and he operated several motor boats during his life. Once he moved to Florida in the early 60’s he occupied several homes on the beach and with waterfront access. He also enjoyed sailing and was fond of sails filled with the brisk winds of the coast.
Ron also enjoyed living in the mountains of North Carolina part of the year. At his mountain home Ron enjoyed caring for his vegetable garden, growing blueberries. He even made some jelly. Ron cherished the rushing creeks, mountain views, sunsets, cold beer, and good company.
Ron was a musician as a youth playing the coronet. He loved live music especially the blues. Ron was always eager to dance to a tune that he enjoyed and his smile told the story when he did.
Ron is survived by Joyce Wigand his sister of Springfield, MO. His two sons: Thomas (Cheryl) Brown of Apopka, FL, Ronald (Patti) Brown of Lancaster, SC; and one grandson: Kyle Brown of Columbus, OH.
Ron is preceded in death by his father Arthur Brown, mother Ruby Brown and brother Jerry Brown.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Saint Jude’s Children’s hospital, Memphis Tenn.
