Ronald H. Harris

July 29, 1949 — March 10, 2020

Ronald Howard “Ron” Harris died on March 10, 2020 in Port St. Lucie, Florida at the young age of 70. He was a resident of St. Lucie County for 31 years.

He is survived by his wife Sherry, and his daughter Taylor.

Ron was the St. Lucie County Surveyor prior to retirement and served on the St. Lucie County Board of Adjustments with the County Commissioners. He served as past President of the Indian River Chapter of the Florida Surveying and Mapping Society and was active in it for many years. He loved playing charity golf tournaments. He was looking forward to being an election poll deputy and 2020 census taker. Ron was a proud and passionate Republican and loved anything to do with politics, especially on Twitter.
Ron loved working in his yard, growing pineapples, gardening, and fixing things around the house. He loved instant black coffee, exceptional scotch, the hot weather of Florida, his necktie collection, tools, grilling, playing the lottery with his work family, and playing baseball in his early years. He also enjoyed eating ice cream while watching old westerns, war movies, and Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek, and watching the Dallas Cowboys play.

Ron may have been a stubborn man and sometimes difficult to work with because of his perfectionist nature, but more importantly, he never hesitated to lend a helping hand, was generous, kind, and compassionate. He truly loved his family, his pets, and his truck. He will be deeply missed by all that had the honor of knowing him.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Cancer Society.
