Ronald Otto Rockey was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to Renata and Stanley Rockey on October 1, 1941. He was the fourth of 5 siblings, 3 of whom have preceded him in death: his eldest sister, Geraldine, his older brother George and younger brother Robert.
Ron was schooled in Milwaukee, WI and Little Rock, Arkansas for elementary and secondary schools. He served in the U.S.Navy for several years. In 1965 he married Nancy Hallas of Lisbon, Connecticut. In 1968 they were blessed with a daughter, Sara Louise and in 1969 another blessing, daughter, Naomi Lynn.
In 1972, Ron graduated with a degree in religion and history, and was then assigned to pastor several churches in Southern New England.
In 1979, Ron graduated from Antioch University, Boston campus, with a Master in Education degree and specialty in Marriage and Family Therapy. Following graduation, he pastored churches in Florida, Wyoming and Bismarck, ND. His Doctorate in Counseling Psychology was from Evangelical Theological Seminary. Beginning in 1995, he and Nancy worked in team ministry for Faith For Today, traveling worldwide, teaching and helping those who were physically, emotionally and/or sexually abused in their early years.
Ron and Nancy have co-authored seven books on this subject and 2 complete recovery programs. In 2009, Ron was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, he and Nancy semi-retired in New Mexico, to write and counsel.
Ron is survived by his wife, two sisters, Phyllis and Judy of Wisconsin, his two daughters and son-in-laws, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Nancy and her two daughters and son-in-laws currently reside in Florida.
Services: A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.
