Rose Mazi
Rose Mazi, formerly of Fairfield, passed peacefully on Monday September 8, at 100 years old in Fort Pierce, Florida with family by her side. She was born February 14, 1914, in Hungary. Her parents were Joseph and Elizabeth Gaal Kerstner, and her siblings were Elizabeth Socker, Anna Szemoek, Joseph Kerstner, and Martin Kerstner. She was married to Ernst Mazi in 1937.
Rose is survived by her two daughters Hedwig O 'Grady of Fort Pierce, FL, and Elvira Robinson and her husband Rob of Carmel, CA. She was a caring and devoted wife and mother. Her kindness reached out to all her family and friends. Rose enjoyed being with aunts, uncles, cousins, and her family; gardening; and playing pinochle.
After the war she and her family lived in Germany, and in 1956 immigrated to America, settling in Fairfield to be with extended family. She made her home there, and enjoyed winter visits to Florida.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM in the Chapel at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield, with Father Michael Dogali officiating. Entombment will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery's Garden Mausoleum, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Ernst. A celebration of Roses life for family and friends will be held following the service.
