Rosemary Sowinski, 93, was born in Washington, MO on August 13, 1922 and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8 in Fort Pierce.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband James William Sowinski and daughter Jane Sowinski Martin.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons: Jim (Brenda) of Fort Pierce and John (Patty) of Orlando; four daughters: Doris Gaunt (Richard) of Panama City, Rita Conn (Steve) of Ocala, Karen Hogan (Mike) of Ft. Pierce, and Mary DeSalvo (Joe) of Jacksonville; 21 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Rosemary was the seventh of nine children born to Henry and Rose Noelke. Her surviving siblings are Cyril Noelke and Alfred Noelke of Washington, MO and Sister Rose Duchesne Noelke of Springfield, IL.
Rosemary graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School in Washington, MO in 1940. While visiting cousins in Ft. Pierce she met her future husband James. They were united in marriage at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Ft. Pierce on April 9, 1947. She was a homemaker who loved to cook, sew, sing, laugh, and nurture her family. As a 4-H leader she taught many young women how to sew.
The family extends appreciation to the staff of the Lynmoore and particularly to Rosemary’s loving caregivers: Evelyn Taylor, Nadia Barrett, and Joan Bhallie. The family also gives special thanks to Fr. Richard George, Fr. Peter Dolan and Fr. Michael Woodcock for their devotion to her spiritual care.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM with a Wake Service at 7:00 PM followed by the Rosary and eulogies on Sunday, December 13 at Haisley Funeral Home in Fort Pierce. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anastasia Church at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 14 with a musical prelude beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Ft. Pierce.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anastasia Church in honor of Rosemary Sowinski, 401 S. 33rd St., Fort Pierce, FL 34947.
