Roy De Filippis

Roy De Filippis, 94, passed from this earth to be with our Lord on April 19, 2024 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
 
 Roy was born on August 22, 1929 in Newark, New Jersey the son of Arcangelo (Archie) and Lavinia (Brune) De Filippis. who predeceased him. He grew up in West Orange, New Jersey before moving to Florida in the 60's with Swift and Company. In 1981, he moved to Delaware with his company where he met his wife Ramona. He retired in 1989 from Swift Independent Packing Company as Vice President of Branch House Development after spending several years moving around the country. They retired to Potter County Pennsylvania, where he enjoyed being outdoors on the river Fly Fishing or on the mountain Hunting. He raised Brittany Spaniels and loved hunting with them for Grouse, Pheasant, Quail and Woodcock. He also enjoyed Deer and Turkey hunting. He won numerous awards shooting Trap and Sporting Clays and was a member of Bradford Gun Club and Keating Sporting Club. He spent many evenings playing dominoes late into the night with dear friends on Hanson Hollow. Many years were spent traveling the United States and Canada by RV prior to becoming "Snow Birds" in Florida for the winter. They Volunteered at Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area for many years.
 
 He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church & St. John of the Cross Vero Beach, Florida. He was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus and a volunteer at St Vincent De Paul Thrift Store in Vero Beach.
 
 Survivors include his wife, Ramona De Filippis of Lakewood Park, FL; sons, Roy (Lonnie) De Filippis of Fort Pierce, FL & Nova Scotia, Canada, Gregory (Shirley) De Filippis of Val Rico, FL and Christopher (Cecelia) De Filippis of Fort Pierce, FL; daughter, Tracey (Brad) Smith of Vero Beach, FL; beloved nieces, Carolyn & Maria Chiechi; his favorite cousin, Veronica Juliana; many grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
 
 He was predeceased by this sisters Carolyn Campbell, Concetta De Filippis and Dominica Chiechi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Helen’s Catholic Church, Vero Beach.  Burial will take place in The Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, New Jersey.
