Roy J. Whitaker, 77, died October 19, 2008 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Whitaker was born in Richlands, Virginia and lived in the Ft. Pierce/Port St. Lucie area for 54 years.
He worked as a mechanic at D.L. Scotto for 43 years before retirement and was a Veteran the U.S. Marines. He was a friend to everyone and loved by all.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Lavada Whitaker of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughter, Donna Williams of Palmetto; sons, Mike Whitaker of Columbia, TN and Scott Whitaker of Lakewood, CO; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997.
Services: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 5-7 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A service will be conducted on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service. A guest book may be signed at www.haisleyfuneralhome.com
