Sadie Carol Burney
Born to Albert and Addie Hill on April 20th of 1936, in Hinton, W.Va. Sadie was the ninth of eleven children. Sadie lost her father at the tender age of five years old. She was raised by her single mother and older siblings. She was a vibrant girl who finished eighth grade and some of ninth grade before quitting school to help the family and worked as a housekeeper and babysitter for people with young families. She came from a loving humble Godly family. Her mother could play the piano, organ, juice harp and just about anything she tried all by ear. She, along with her siblings, all could cook and do anything they set their minds to do. She was a Wife, Mother, Stepmother, Grandmother to our Tyler Stoddard (Emmily), Sister, Aunt, Neighbor, Babysitter, and most important Mom. She came to Florida after Grandmother Hill Mom’s passed in the fall of 1970.
Sadie loved good Christian singing and preaching. She loved reading the Bible, doing crossword puzzles, cooking, sewing, working in the yard in her younger years. Also, she made quilts, made curtains and anything else she put her mind to do.
Preceded in death were her parents, Addie Bauer Hill & Albert Hill, stepson, Dale N. Burney and all siblings. She leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Arthur N. Burney, Jr. of Fort Pierce, FL; son, Andy Avery, daughter-in-law, Beverly A. Avery of Fort Pierce, FL; grandson, Tyler Stoddard (Emmily Stoddard) and several nieces and nephews and one great niece, Noka Stoeckley and many other family members all over the states.
