How are you doing? “Fine Like Wine” Salvatore Grotta aka “Sal” would reply. He had his fair share of euphemisms, and everyone will know them for generations to come.
Salvatore Grotta a proud Italian American, 94, of Port Saint Lucie Florida, passed away on August 8th after a long and fulfilling life. Sal was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather.
Sal was preceded in death by his two brothers and three sisters, and is survived by his lovely wife Angelina Grotta, his sister Connie and his two loving children. His daughter Dianne and son-in-law Terrence and his son Frank and daughter-in-law Eileen, along with his six grandchildren and his four great–grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
Sal loved being around his family and friends but most of all he had a passion for making others laugh whether you were just a stranger on another table in the restaurant or someone he crossed paths within a shopping center he made the attempt to get you to smile. If he didn’t have you bellowing with laughter well… then just fuhgeddaboudit.
He Served his country in the Army as a Private First Class, worked on the Long Island Railroad for 28 years, worked for Entenmann's (Which he used to always bless his family with their delicious treats fresh from their NY warehouse) and finally worked for Port Saint Lucie Parks and Recreation services keeping our local city parks beautiful.
He really enjoyed getting with his friends and play Boccie Ball, Cards/Poker or Horseshoes whenever he possibly could. He enjoyed attending the Sons of Italy, Italian American Club and American Legion where he always danced with anyone and everyone. He would also try to impress his future wife by swaying her with his piano skills (with the roll). Also, don’t forget he really, really enjoyed his chicken noodle soup.
