Samuel Charles Turner, 79, died November 26, 2011 at his home in Ft. Pierce, FL. Sam was born October 11, 1932 to Samuel Dean and France Irene (Cooper) Turner. He was raised on the family farm in rural Linneus, Missouri attending RIV Meadville, MO School, second through twelfth grades. After serving two years in the US Army, he graduated from the University of Missouri with a Masters’ Degree. Sam worked for the Dept. of Agriculture in Columbia, MO, Raleigh, NC and Washington, DC. In 1968 he became an employee of the Federal Reserve Board and retired from there in 1985 and moved to Florida.
He married Phyllis Shafer April 2, 1953. Survivors are his wife of 58 years, 3 daughters: Jan Amerman and husband Mark of Windermere, FL, Nancy Norman and husband Gary of Fredericksburg, VA and Jennifer Sansone and husband Joseph of Madison, VA; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Sam loved the Lord, family, friends and fishing.
In lieu of flowers, his desire was that any memorial contributions be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 Dunn Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981, Westside Baptist Church, 3361 Jenkins Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981 or Hungarian International Mission, P.O. Box 656, Rowlett, TX 75050.
A memorial service will be held at Haisley Funeral Home, 3015 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34947 on December 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends 10:30-11:00 AM before the service.
