Shirley Starbird DuBois, 77, died May 24, 2016 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mrs. DuBois was born in Apopka, Florida and moved to Fort Pierce in 2008 coming from Orlando, Florida.
Shirley graduated high school from Apopka Memorial and graduated college from the University of Florida. She taught for the Orange County School system for 39 years and received Teacher of the Year for Mid Florida Tech and also taught Elementary Education for 25 plus years. She enjoyed the ESOL Program and was the program director at Mid Florida Tech. She was very proud to give back to her community and was determined after her graduation to go back and make it a better place. She was an avid Gator football fan and Orlando Magic fan. Shirley was also a two time cancer survivor.
Survivors include her son, Ben (Shirley) DuBois IV of Orlando, FL; daughter, Cheryl (Larry) Tuxbury of Kissimmee, FL; brothers, Sherwood P. (Diane Waters) Starbird, Jr. of Fort Pierce, FL and Stephen W. (Mary) Starbird of Lake Placid, FL; sisters, Sandra S. Avrett of Clermont, FL and Susan S. (Don) Wissman of Galena, OH; grandchildren, Brandon and Austin Tuxbury and Daniella and Damon DuBois. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Sherwood and Lucille Starbird, grandson, Larry Joe, Jr. and sister, Rea (Jack) Andrews.
