Shirley Jeannette Hooker Mills, 83, formerly of Dupo, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home in Port St. Lucie, Florida surrounded by loved ones on August 25, 2022.
Shirley was born in Alexander County, Illinois. She married her best friend and high school sweetheart and was blessed with a large and loving family. She was a stay-at-home-mother of nine, loved gardening, crafts, birds, trees, cooking, and 50’s rock & roll music.
One of her favorite past-times was going to the St Louis Cardinal games with her dad, and she was able to see her Cardinals here in Port St Lucie. She lived at The Palms of St Lucie West in Port St Lucie for a year where she made many dear and loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Laybourn D. Hooker and Helen V. Lance, husband Jerry Dean Mills and her son Jeffrey Allen Mills. She is survived by Sherri K. Gulley, Jerry W. (Angie) Mills, Michael D. (June) Mills, Nancy L. (Brian) Pogue, Steven K. (Curtis) Mills, Marybeth (Julie) Mills, Lisa M. (Vinnie) Ngotsouvanh, and Joyce A. (Michael) Kimsey, sisters Margaret J. Hooks and Mary K. Elkins, and brother Kenny R. Hooker. She was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
