Sister Paul Emelia Brown, formerly known as Margaret Mary Brown, died at Hospice at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was 84 years of age, and in the 65th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sister Paul Emelia was born in Fort Pierce, Florida to Edward and Emelia (Schatzeder) Brown. She graduated from St. Anastasia High School in Fort Pierce, Florida; received a bachelor of education degree in secretarial science from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, Michigan, and a master of science degree in administration/school supervision from Barry College (University) in Miami Shores, Florida.
Sister spent 41½ years ministering in elementary and secondary education in Detroit, Deerfield, and Ruth, Michigan; Cincinnati, Ohio; Grafton, West Virginia; and in Miami Shores, Miami, Fort Pierce, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Florida. She was assistant principal for two years, and principal for six years at John Carroll High School in Fort Pierce; and principal for two years at St. James School in Miami. Sister spent 7 years in pastoral ministry at St. Anastasia Parish in Ft. Pierce, and 16 years in pastoral and bereavement ministries at St. Joseph Parish in Stuart, Florida.
Sister Paul Emelia is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Hawkins of Winter Haven, and Rosemary Smith of Fort Pierce, both in Florida; and a brother, Paul Brown of Long Beach, California.
A Memorial Liturgy will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, July 5, 2013, at St. Anastasia Church in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
