On Wednesday morning June 15, 2016 Smith Augustin went home to his father at his final resting place.
Smith Augustin was born on September 24, 1939 in Haiti, Trou du Nord. He was the son of the late Roland & Claire- Si- Bonne Augustin. Smith received his formal education in Haiti. Smith and his lovely wife, Ghislaine Augustin lived in holy matrimony for over fifty five years.
In April 1965 Smith and Ghislaine embarked a new journey to the United States of America. Upon arriving they were able to settle in New Haven Connecticut. After spending a couple of years in CT, where opportunities were limited, the couple moved to Brooklyn, NY. Smith always wanted a better life for his family, better education and environment. In the late 70’s he moved his family to Bay Shore, Long Island.
Smith worked for New York University for 10 years and drove a cab part-time. Working at NYU was not something he wanted for the rest of his life. Smith was able to save enough money to start his own taxi business. He worked over twenty years in the business. Smith retired from the business as the owner and operator of his Medallion. After working so many years, Smith retired to Port St. Lucie, FL.
Smith worked tirelessly to provide for his family so they can have a better life. Smith left behind a loving family and friends who will cherish his memory forever. Smith enjoyed life, enjoyed good times with family and friends. He loved dancing, politics and voiced his opinion about current events. For those who didn’t know Smith, he was the type of man who would go out of his way for others and gave direction.
He was admired for his strength, loyalty and dedication to his family.
Smith leaves to mourn: his loving wife Ghislaine Augustin.
