Sonia Colon Melendez

Sonia Colon Melendez. 78, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away February 4, 2024. 

Sonia was born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico on March 24, 1945 to Placido Delgado and Maria Aponte. She married her beloved Pedro Colon Melendez in Waukegan, IL on June 16, 1962. 

Sonia was an active member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church and participated in local prayer groups with close friends.

Sonia was a devoted mother and will be forever remembered by her children, Aixa Colon Stacy, Pedro (Jackie) Colon, Juddy (Allen) Tucci and Vanessa Melendez. She enjoyed spending time and making memories with her beloved grandchildren, Janessa, Antonio, Darion, Marquez, Bryanna, Alex, Ryan, Anthony. Mia, Sasha, Megan, Jessie, Jason, and her many beloved great-grandchildren.  Sonia was predeceased by her husband, Pedro Colon Melendez, her parents, Placido and Maria, as well as two brothers. 

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 4PM to 7PM at the Haisley Funeral Home Chapel 3015 Okeechobee Road Ft Pierce, FL 34947. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:30AM at St. Anastasia Catholic Church 407 South 33rd Street Fort Pierce, FL 34947. Burial will follow at Rolling Oaks Cemetery in Port St. Lucie, FL.
