Spencer Burston Gilbert
Spencer Burston Gilbert, 96, passed away peacefully at his home in Port St. Lucie, FL.
Spencer was born to George and May Gilbert in 1928. He was a lifelong resident of St. Lucie County and a true Floridian.
Mr. Gilbert graduated from Fort Pierce High School. Spencer went to the University of Florida and then received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami. He was a captain in the U.S. Army.
He was the longest standing member with the Florida Bar with 57 years of committed service. During his career he was appointed by the Governor to be the lead prosecutor in St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee and Indian River counties. He was the attorney for the St. Lucie County Housing Authority for 47 years and was the Port St. Lucie City attorney from 1975-1989.
Mr. Gilbert developed Pleasure Cove Mobile Home Park. Spencer was a world traveler, real outdoorsman, and a rancher. He loved to spend time enjoying Florida’s true beauty. You could find him out on the water sailing, and fishing or on horseback at his ranch.
He is survived by his son, Grayson Gilbert, of Fort Pierce, FL; daughter, Sherry Gilbert, of Pennsylvania; and his significant other, Lois Carter, of Port St. Lucie, FL.

Services: A visitation will be held Monday, January 6, 2025, from 11 AM-12 PM with a service to follow at 12 noon at Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service in Fort Pierce, FL.
