Stanley Philip Watson was born in Newtown, PA as the second son of Philip Longhurst Watson and Mary Emma (Krusen) Watson. His older brother by 8 years was Albert S. Watson.
He graduated from Allentown High School in Allentown, PA. During WWII, he served in the 78th Infantry, “Lightning Division” in France, Belgium and Germany. After the war, he graduated from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.
On June 13, 1948, he married Evelyn Marie (Tainter) Watson. They had three sons – David, George and Jonathan. Stanley retired from Pennsylvania Power and Light Company in Allentown as manager of the Advertising Department. His passion was photography. He was seldom without a camera by his side and was known for capturing the moment.
After retirement he and Evelyn moved to Crystal River, FL. There he joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary, 7th District, 15th Division. He was a member of Crystal River United Methodist Church. After Evelyn’s passing, he moved to Fort Pierce.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Evelyn, his brother Albert and his son George. His survivors include David and Barbara Watson, Jonathan and Judy Watson, Eileen Watson along with 6 granddaughters, 5 great granddaughters and a great grandson.
There will be a Memorial Service at Lynmoore Assisted Living on September 29th at 1:00 pm. He will be inurned along with Evelyn at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Friday, September 30th at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to Treasure Coast Hospice and Palliative Care.
