Stella M. Rudkowski

March 5, 1932 — April 30, 2024

Port St. Lucie, FL

Stella Mary Rudkowski, 92, passed away on April 30, 2024 at HCA St Lucie Hospital.

Born March 5, 1932 in Jamaica, New York to Wanda Klucenska and Frank Sokolowski, Polish immigrants from Poland, who Immigrated to the United States in 1913.

Affectionately nicknamed by her family as Koodoo/Chicken and later in life, Mrs R.

Survived by her sister Blanche and her husband Pat, sister Lillian and brother Henry, all of Stony Brook, NY, her son, Steve (PSL), and many many nieces, nephews and friends spread throughout the country.

One of 23 children, she grew up in South Jamaica, NY. When she was much younger she worked in a factory in Queens and she loved sewing. She married Joseph Rudkowski on June 8th, 1958 at St Joseph Roman Catholic Church in South Jamaica, NY.

She moved to Massapequa, NY in 1960. Her beloved husband Joseph passed May 13,1961. She then took up babysitting/ironing from home. She was a 40+ year member of The Lifestudy Fellowship.

She moved to her newly built home in Port St Lucie in September 1994, along with her youngest brother, Eddie (who passed August 6, 2015). She again took up babysitting in PSL and did so up until 2008, when health issues forced her to stop. She lived at her PSL home for a little shy of 30 years, until her passing. She passed April 30, 2024, after about a year of declining health.

She loved all the kids she babysat, over 47 years, in Massapequa and Port St Lucie, and had gone to several of the kids weddings. She had the biggest heart, bar none. Over the decades, she took in many stray cats and dogs. She always helped everyone that needed it, without reservation. Her neighbors will always remember her friendliness, her fondness for word puzzles, her many stories about “the old days” and seeing her ride her trike with the big American flag on the back. She was an amazing one of a kind lady, and she is greatly missed.
