Stephen P. "Steve" Treece Sr., 66, of Port St. Lucie, passed away Tuesday morning, January 30, 2018, at the Port St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie, Florida.
He was born July 19, 1951, in Lafayette, IN, the son of Thelma May (Titus) and the late James Treece. He has been a resident of the Port St Lucie area, coming here in 1974 from Buck Creek, IN.
Mr. Treece was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Treece was employed by the Fort Pierce Utility Authority as a Supervisor of Electrical Production for 30 years.
He was a member of the Ft. Pierce Elks Lodge #1520, the Moose Lodge #1513 of Port St. Lucie and the First Baptist Church of Port St. Lucie. He was also a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He loved to play pool, bowl, fish, He adored and mastered the game of Golf and was one of the really true NASCAR fans in the world. He enjoyed botany and was an accomplished landscape professional, he was a self-taught computer expert, mathematical wizard, a classic car enthusiast and was a movie buff - from Clint Eastwood and spaghetti westerns to James Bond and Indiana Jones -- with a little bit of Blazing Saddles mixed in. Steve was a lover of science fiction and was a Star Trek Fan. Steve was extremely devoted to Christ and his family. He will be very sorely missed, leaving a big hole in our hearts and lives!
Steve is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia A. "Patty" Treece of Port St. Lucie; sons, Bart Treece, Chris Underhill both of Port St. Lucie and Steve Treece Jr and his Wife Tilara Treece of Lafayette, IN; a daughter, Michelle and husband Jeff McCallister of Smyrna, TN; his Brother Jim Treece of Lafayette, Indiana, his Mom, Thelma May of West Point, IN; grandchildren,
Mekhila Treece and Taylor Treece of Lafayette, IN, and Landon McCallister of Smyrna, TN; Sisters, Barbra Ann Gray (Gary) of West Point, IN and Ladonna Metz (Dennis) of Cross City, FL;
Sister in law, Linda Crouch of Ft. Pierce; Nephews Todd, Troy and Tony Crouch (Michelle) of Ft Pierce, Florida, several amazing nieces & nephews, Austin, Cody, Taylor, Tyler, Ty Willis,
Cole, Kaydon, Carter, Cierra, Brian, Brianna, Chris, and Roy Thomas his unofficial adopted son and Ceviche’ the Family’s Chihuahua who is also grieving the loss of her Grandpa.
Visitation will be Friday, February 9, 2018, from 11 am to 1pm in the Chapel of the Haisley Funeral Home, 3015 Okeechobee Rd., Ft. Pierce, followed immediately at 1pm with a service, officiated by Pastor Bryan Harrington. Burial will follow in White City Cemetery.
