Talaina Marie Ortman, Port St. Lucie, Fl passed away unexpectedly at her home Tuesday April 17, 2018. Talaina was born May 7, 1982 in Fort Pierce and graduated from FTP Central in 1998. She started her career at the St. Lucie Department of Public Safety in 1999 as a 911 Telecommunicator and worked there until her death. She was also very active in her community serving as a volunteer with the Florida Wing, Treasure Coast Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol where she earned the rank of Captain.
Talaina was always the first to volunteer to help anyone and quickly became a beloved and trusted co-worker, mentor and friend. Her dedication to her duties made her a favorite with the deputies and officers she dispatched. She always was empathetic and caring to the callers. She was extremely dedicated to the Department of Public Safety, the agencies she worked with and the citizens she served.
She was a great wife, mother and step-mother. She loved being outdoors, gardening and caring for her fish pond, often singing to all types of music while doing it. Talaina had a beautiful voice. She loved all animals, especially her cats. She was especially proud to be able to mentor the young cadets of the Civil Air Patrol.
Talaina is survived by her husband Craig Ortman, daughter Hailey Marie, step-daughters Brittany Leigh, Danielle Brooke and Michelle, Mother Erma J. Holly, Step Father Charles Holly, Sister Barbie Lynn Green, Brothers Hubert E. Singley and Ronald A. Singley. Talaina was preceded in death by her father James Singley.

Services: Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A service will be conducted on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery.
