Therese B. Knowles, 90, died September 27, 2008 at Consulate Health Care of Vero Beach.She was born June 8, 1918 in Fontainebleau, near Paris, and spent her formative years in Meaux, France, east of Paris. From her earliest years, she showed a marked interest in art. In 1946, she came to America to begin her married life with D.N. “Danny” Knowles. Her earliest works in America were done in the studios of A.E. “Beanie” Backus, her friend and mentor. Her paintings can be seen in many public buildings throughout the state and in private collections in the United States, Canada and France.She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Daniel N. Knowles, former St. Lucie County Tax Collector.
She leaves to mourn, sisters-in-law, Dora Jean Hebert of Jacksonville, FL and Stella Page of Sebastian; nephews, Ralph Page and wife Cassandra Page of Vero Beach, and Michel Vasset and wife, Catherine Debuchy of France; dear friends, including Louis and Joan Forget, Suzanne Hazellief, Lois Savage, Chris and Aldana Mikols, Janie Morrison, and a host of other family and friends.Friends may call on Weds., October 1, 2008 from 3-6 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 10AM, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery.
