Thomas ‘‘Tom” E. Evans Sr.
November 29th 1931- December 1st 2020
Thomas “Tom” E. Evans Sr, 89 of Ft. Pierce Florida peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ December 1st, after a short illness at home. He was surrounded by his loving family and beloved dog, Sookie.
Tom was born to Ethel and Godfrey Evans in Granite City IL on November 29th 1931, he then lived in Columbus Ohio for 37 years before moving the family to Florida in 1969.
He was a Korean War Navy Veteran serving on the U.S.S. Healy DD 672. Tom retired after 31 years of service from Southern Bell Telephone.
In his retirement, he enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, and taking care of his outdoor critters.
Tom loved and was dedicated to his family, church, and countless pets.
Along with his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, George G. Evans and sons, James P. Evans and David E Evans. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma Baker Evans; son, Thomas E. Evans Jr; daughter, Mary Evans Ricks (husband Willie and granddaughter Hailee) and nieces and nephews in Kansas City, Mo, New York and California. Also leaving behind other extended family members.
Friends and family may gather together on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 3:00-4:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor Craig Bridgers officiating at Haisley Funeral Home in Fort Pierce. Funeral arrangements are thankfully entrusted to Haisley Funeral Home.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, OH.
