Thomas F. Omans, 73, died November 27, 2009, in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Mr. Omans was born in Detroit, Michigan, and was a resident of Fort Pierce since 1997.
He was a computer programmer for General Motors and EDS, was a member and served on the board of the Fort Pierce Jazz Society, playing trumpet, served in the US Army from 1955-1957 during peacetime in Ft. Hood, TX, was a member of the Ft. Pierce Elks, Lodge #1520, an avid fisherman and boater, a do-it-yourselfer and enjoyed reading the Ft. Pierce Tribune, Christian Science Monitor and the Toronto Star Daily and was a dedicated and loving family man.
Memorial contributions may be made in Tom's honor to the Salvation Army at 3629 South US#1, Fort Pierce, Florida 34982 or the Ft. Pierce Jazz and Blues Society, Inc.,Tom Omans Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 1086, Ft. Pierce, Florida 34954.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Gwen Omans of Fort Pierce, FL; daughters, Diane Wainwright of Lake Mary, FL, Christine Weekes of Fort Pierce, FL and Jane Steinbrecher of Sebastian, FL; sons, Jeffrey Omans of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Tom Omans of Shelby Twp, MI; sister, Delores Burroughs of Kimball, MI and brother, Gary Omans of Kingsley, MI; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 29th, from 5 to 8:00 PM. A Service will be held on Monday, November 30th at 10:00 AM in the Haisley Funeral Home Chapel. Those unable to attend may sign a guestbook at www.haisleyfuneralhome.com
