Thomas Robert Mark

February 16, 1959 — November 13, 2016

On November 13, 2016, Thomas Robert Mark, age 57, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. Thomas is lovingly remembered by his wife, Olga Mark, daughters, Marcellita Mark and Catalina Jamanca, son-n-law Jaymar Jamanca, siblings: Jack, Dan, Debbie, Taffy, Faith, Annie, Jenny, and Mark, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

On February 16, 1959, Thomas was born to John Mark and Faith Williams. Thomas fondly shared his stories of growing up in Baldwin, New York, playing Pee-Wee football, searching for treasures while walking to school, weekend trips to Jones' Beach, playing tricks on his mom, and admiring his dad's commitment to his family. Thanks to his kind, curious, and quirky nature, Thomas leaves his siblings with many special memories.

Thomas earned his Bachelor's in Psychology from Louisiana Tech University and dedicated his career to a life of service. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force and volunteered to work with adults' with disabilities. Thomas found his niche with the Florida Department of Corrections. He worked tirelessly for 27 years and retired as the Circuit Administrator for Probation and Parole Services/Circuit 19.

While Thomas was a hard-working, professional, his proudest accomplishment has always been his dedication to his family. In 1980, Thomas married Olga and together they raised 2 daughters, Marcellita and Catalina. Thomas' biggest joy has been the role of being the father to his girls. He was sure to pass on the strong values and morals instilled in him during his own childhood.

Thomas loved all his siblings, and shared special memories with each one. His best friend and partner in fighting crime is his youngest brother Mark. Mark married Olga's sister Luz and they had two children, Jacqueline and Jacob. Mark and Thomas were neighbors and confidants. They would spend hours sitting on the patio, just talking, usually about their political views, current events, and how they had the answers to all the world's problems, if someone would just ask. Neither were big sports fans, although Thomas loved a good Super Bowl party. Together with Olga and Luz, they raised their four children more like siblings than cousins.

Thomas looked forward to holidays, especially Thanksgiving, in which the whole family would be together. He enjoyed weekend trips camping at River Ranch, "roughing it" in the air conditioned RV. Thomas is a kind, humble man, a good listener, and always offered words of encouragement. He was known for being silly and enjoyed making people laugh. Thomas was always up for dancing during family get togethers and is fondly remembered as the uncle who enforced the "eat all your dessert before dinner" policy.

While our own hearts are heavy, Thomas has left us with many special and loving memories. May we find comfort in knowing he has found his peace in the valley.

The memory of a good person is a blessing. Proverbs 10:7
